The $200K a year Web Developer job

Web Development Software Engineer Jobs in Fairfax, VA: There’s a job at Career Builder today for a Web developer with a salary of $200,000.

But there’s a catch.

A principal Department of Defense agency is looking for programmers, developers or coders to code, support field deployment and maintenance of a new database application which will be used by Army units in Iraq. Scope These are full-time positions (12/7) located at one of the major US Bases in IRAQ. Deployment will be period of 6-12 months. Training on the application software will begin prior to deployment and will take place in Virginia.

Man, I hope I don’t see these exact tutorials submitted for the project. That would be bad. And embarrassing for the student when we critique them in class…

I know there’s a quadzillion keyboard shortcut lists out there but what’s one more?

Working with Photoshop can be quite time consuming for both beginners and advanced users. Once you’ve worked with it for a while, you begin to find that you’re constantly going back and forth between the same menu items or palette buttons. If you’re anything like me, you’re switching tools so often that most of your time spent in Photoshop isn’t even on the photo — it’s messing with the vast array of editing tools. Fortunately there’s a way to help streamline your Photoshop workflow.

Remove These Words From Your Vocabulary

It’s Sunday morning and while I should be grading ARTS171 projects I decided to procrastinate and surf a little. I found this at a blog I’d never seen before called GraphicDefine.

I’ve got a potty mouth, everyone who has met me knows this. But there is something that can be much more damaging to your relationship with your client than a few swear words here and there. I have removed several words from my own “client relations” vocabulary through the advice of friends, colleagues and books I have read over the past few years. These words tend to put the client on edge, and especially for a new client, can form a barrier across the relationship that you are trying to form with them.

There are many reasons that these words are not appropriate for the business world. This doesn’t mean that I do not use them at home, or with very close clients whom are also friends. My point is that you should be aware that you use them at all and examine what message you are really trying to convey to the client.
