Have you ever wondered how some photographers get perfectly lit shots but have light painting that needs a lot of darkness? It can be done easily in post production. While easy, there are many steps and the process is time consuming. As you practice and the steps become intuitive, you will speed up.

You can’t make this stuff up:

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) – Western Michigan University student William K. Bradley was sentenced for larceny in a building. He stole a computer. From the Kalamazoo County jail. Where he already was serving a sentence in a different case.

Kalamazoo County Circuit Judge Gary Giguere Jr. sentenced Bradley on Monday, telling the Kalamazoo resident his jailhouse theft was “the dumbest crime I’ve heard today” and “may be in the top half-dozen in my career.”

Bradley, who has racked up six felonies and four misdemeanors by the age of 25, agreed with the judge, saying, “I’m not the best criminal.”

Bradley asked for home arrest, but Giguere instead ordered him back to jail for six months.

Western spokeswoman Cheryl Roland tells the Kalamazoo Gazette Bradley is a sophomore at the university.

You may have seen the Adobe Creative Suite icon pillows being sold at MySuiteStuff. They’re apparently quite popular.

Not to be outdone, Meninos has a few things for those of you who can’t get enough Creative Suite in their life.

For $25 + shipping, you can get a set of six Creative Suite icon coasters, a perfect addition to your work desk. Pretty nifty.

If coasters aren’t your thing, maybe Creative Suite refrigerator magnets appeal to you.

Photoshop or Illustrator tool panels can adorn your metal surfaces for $25 per set. Personally, I like the Photoshop ones!

slicing-guide-small.jpgI just stumbled onto this site: CSS Slicing Guide.

They show you how to take your photoshop/painter/fireworks design of your web site and slice it up and ‘convert’ it to CSS. I skimmed the tutorial and it doesn’t look bad. Give it a go and let me know what you think.

Also, some other things I’ve found today instead of working on a client’s site:

Lansing Community College Motorcycle Safety Program

pops1.jpgI got this the other day in my email. As most of you know, I used to race motorcycles and used to ride to class every day rain or shine. I know I have a student or two that ride as well. If you haven’t taken the MSF course, do it. If you’ve been riding for six months or six years, you will learn something. If you think you might want to ride a motorcycle someday, take the class. In years past, they provided the motorcycle. “What!?” I’m not sure they’re still doing that so you might want to contact them to make sure.

Lansing Community College now provides the Basic RiderCourse motorcycle safety training as a community service at LCC’s West Campus. This program is sponsored by a grant from the Michigan Department of State, with funds being provided by motorcycle licensing fees and cycle endorsements from the Michigan Secretary of State Office. There is a $25 nonrefundable fee.

In the Basic RiderCourse, you will develop the special skills and strategies of a good motorcyclist. Your experience and participation will lead to a better understanding of the riding maneuvers and mental skills necessary to enjoy motorcycling to the fullest. You will have the opportunity to learn the physical and mental skills necessary for you to safely operate a motorcycle in real-world traffic.

In the classroom, you will learn ways to minimize the risk and handle special riding situations. During the riding portions of the Basic Rider Course you will be coached to develop the physical skills of basic control that include: straight line riding, stopping, turning, and shifting; then move on to more advanced skills in stopping quickly, cornering, and swerving

This class is for those that need to develop better basic skills and riders that want to refresh what they already know. Beginning level skills are taught, however, many experienced riders take the class as a “tune-up” or “refresher” course.

All of our coaches have partaken in several motorcycle safety in-services and training updates. They are certified by the Motorcycle Safety FoundationR in the Basic RiderCourseSM implementation. They have several years of practical riding experience as well as classroom and range training.

All Basic RiderCourses will be held at the LCC’s West Campus at 5708 Cornerstone Drive, Lansing, Michigan 48917 on the following dates:

June 12-14

August 7-9
